Blonde Books: Living To Tell The Tale (Gabriel Garcia Marquez)
Oh, you’re such a Gabo fan… And? I generally assume most expats will work their way through his classics, but the autobiography is so much more. An incredible insight into an incredible career…
But some claim that he abandoned Colombia? You can make up your own mind. His description of the events of April 9, 1948 are unforgettable and the story behind Chronicle of a Death Foretold may make you cry – not to mention the work he did for this very newspaper.
And now he’s not in the best of health? Sadly not. Living To Tell The Tale was planned to be the first of a three-part autobiography, but we may never see the other two. Even more reason to treasure it.
